YORK, PA (November 17, 2025) – Residents of York County will soon have a new choice for orthopedic services as UPMC and Orthopedic Institute of Pennsylvania (OIP) extend compassionate, patient-focused care in the area. UPMC and OIP partnered earlier this year to deliver comprehensive musculoskeletal health services together, ensuring patients receive world-class care when and where they need it most.
As part of the partnership, OIP will open a new outpatient clinic in the UPMC Memorial Outpatient Services Building, 1703 Innovation Dr., Suite 3136, York, on Feb. 1, 2026, to provide outpatient orthopaedic services and an orthopaedic injury walk-in clinic for urgent care. Patients seen at this location who need surgical procedures will be scheduled at UPMC Memorial.
“Combining the expertise of OIP and UPMC ensures patients receive the advanced, comprehensive care needed to treat even the most complicated musculoskeletal conditions,” said Ronald Lippe, M.D., F.A.C.S., orthopaedic surgeon and partner, OIP, and, chairman and medical director of orthopaedics, UPMC in Central Pa. “UPMC Memorial offers us access to the latest surgical technology, spacious and modern operating rooms, and the added expertise of UPMC’s surgical services and support staff.”
OIP currently has locations in Camp Hill, Harrisburg, Carlisle, Hershey, Millersburg and Newport.
“We’ve been providing advanced orthopaedic services in Dauphin, Cumberland, and Perry counties for decades,” said Brett Himmelwright, D.O., general orthopedist and medical director of OIP in York County. “Opening our new office in York and partnering with UPMC Memorial, allows more access to vital orthopedic care close to home, and gives patients more choice in who provides that care.”
Orthopaedic specialists at UPMC and OIP offer comprehensive services for the full musculoskeletal system including conditions of the foot, ankle, knee, spine, hand, elbow, and shoulder. They see patients with traumatic injuries, arthritis joint pain, bone fractures, carpal tunnel syndrome, conditions like clubfoot and scoliosis, and soft tissue injuries. Sports medicine providers treat injuries resulting from sports and exercise, like bone, joint and muscle injuries, in after-hours Walk-in Orthopaedic Injury Clinics from UPMC and OIP across the region.
